Responding to 911 calls is only one of the many ways we serve our community. One of our top priorities is to enable everyone in the community to care for themselves and to prevent injuries from occurring. We provide this service through community integration at local events focused on improving health and safety. Our paramedics instruct classes at the high school and college levels which train students for future career possibilities in pre-hospital medicine. A second priority is to ensure that our staff is active and involved in community public safety initiatives. This enables us to quickly and efficiently mobilize the entire department - whether paramedics or office staff – in conjunction with other agencies when large scale emergencies occur.

Therefore, ATCEMS wants everyone in the Austin-Travis County community to be able to provide CPR in an emergency. The department's CPR Training Coordinator oversees, coordinates and provides training in eight different AHA courses year-round.
